“Have you received my orders?” demanded a voice, piercing the silence.

“Good. I expect they be followed exactly. He is to be left alone. Any deviance and the perpetrator will deal with me personally. Do you understand?”

The rain splashed against the window of the train cart as I looked out into the forest. I was on my way to the Reforms headquarters in New Nation. Without parents, I had to live in the capital after my school semesters were over. My aunt and uncle had offered me refuge in their home, but I had turned them down. My name is Angel. I was seven years old when my parents died in a house fire. Even today, three years later, police are investigating what started the fire. You see, my parents were prominent figures of the Reforms. The Reforms are a group of people who are in control of the government. They say they brought us out of the dark ages, but a lot of people disagree. So it's easy to see why they may have been killed.
The truth of the matter is this: I was there that day. I know what happened, but I refuse to say. The police say that I was traumatized deeply by this event. That simply isn't the case. I knew what was going to

Araniel moved swiftly through the trees and onto the edge of a small clearing. After circling the perimeter twice to check for any signs of danger, she signaled for her companions to come closer. Sitting in the middle of the clearing was a small child. From the looks of him, you'd think he were a perfectly normal fae child. However, this child was the reason Ari and her troupe were sent on this mission. This fae was teeming with Dark Magic. He was already beginning to change.
"Make no noise as you encircle him," Ari whispered to her troupe as she reached for an arrow. "May the forest watch over you."
